Carolina Hills Community Master Plan

planFrom the beginning, this land has held a special place to the Deck family.  First, as a family farm over a century ago belonging to Will and Della Jane Deck. During the 1920’s with 7 children working the land and the 1930’s Depression era, the family held together through difficult times.  Later, it was passed on to two of the brothers who had the vision of building a golf course in the early 1960’s.  Begun on a shoestring and a dream, Meadowbrook Golf Club was nurtured by its owners’ sacrifice and determination, as the next generation of the Deck family worked and reveled in the game and on this land.

The master plan for this place began long before us.  There is a beauty here that offers a quiet calm and a pleasant retreat from today’s events.

Golf began a new chapter.

The golf course opened in 1963 where once there was a family farm.  Beside the first fairway are large oaks where out buildings and cabins were once shaded.  The farmhouse, like so many of its day, had long porches to catch the gentle breezes and a tin roof that sounded like music when the rain fell.  It sat under another cluster of oaks where today you find the current pro shop.

Take notice around the golf course as you make your way, you will find persimmon trees along the third hole fairway and a patch of wild blackberries beside the eight tee.  Just off the twelfth tee is a place along the bank where there is a natural spring.  It once served as a place to keep cool the milk and the hand churned butter.

Where the fairways run along the small creeks and brook there once were fields of cotton or corn or meadows where cattle grazed.  And overhead flocks of birds would fly, just as they do today over these Carolina Hills at Meadowbrook.  In the evening along the creek at the thirteenth hole, you can hear the crickets chirping.  And in the woods and hills surrounding this special place you can see deer.  There are springs which form the headwaters for the creeks and brook.

Nature inspires here

If you stop for just a moment to see all that is around you, the large oaks, the gentle hills, the babbling sound from the brook, you find a peace and a solitude so rare in the pace of today’s world.  Stand at one point above the neighborhood park and look over the Carolina hills covered with trees.  Or the tee of the eighteenth hole with its elevated view of the fairway and green below or be awed by the majesty of the mountains across the horizon from the ridge.

Carolina Hills at Meadowbrook is a master planned residential community by Melrose Design Group, PA clustered around the existing Meadowbrook Golf Club.  Custom Home sites from $49,900 to $108,000 during Phase One and Patio Homes from $242,000.
